MBC’s new fantasy drama ‘Labor Attorney Noh Moo-jin’ to premiere May 30, starring Jung Kyung-ho

MBC has confirmed that its upcoming weekend series Labor Attorney Noh Moo-jin will premiere on May 30, airing every Friday and Saturday at 9:50 PM. The broadcaster also unveiled its first promotional poster, hinting at a comedic fantasy-action narrative led by acclaimed actor Jung Kyung-ho.

The series follows Noh Moo-jin, a labor attorney who unexpectedly gains the ability to see ghosts and is forced to solve posthumous labor disputes to stay alive. Blending social realism with supernatural elements, the show positions itself as a genre-bending “fantasy labor drama.”

The project brings together top-tier creative talent, including director Yim Soon-rye (Little Forest, Forever the Moment), writer Kim Bo-tong (D.P., Badland Hunters), and co-writer Yoo Seung-hee (I Can Speak). Their collaboration aims to present a uniquely Korean story that fuses workplace issues with emotional depth and fantasy.

Jung Kyung-ho plays the titular role of Moo-jin, a pragmatic and indifferent labor attorney who reluctantly takes on cases for the dead after a near-death experience. The character's arc—balancing between comedic mishaps and genuine growth—promises to showcase Jung’s versatility, following his previous acclaimed roles as a doctor (Hospital Playlist) and a star tutor (Crash Course in Romance).

The teaser poster features Moo-jin surrounded by ghostly figures, with a tagline reading, “A 180-day labor contract for your life,” capturing the show’s blend of absurdity and urgency. The juxtaposition of fantasy with the real-world theme of labor rights is expected to draw attention from both drama fans and social commentators.

Industry analysts see the series as a bold attempt to approach serious societal issues through an accessible, imaginative lens. “Combining labor law with supernatural comedy is a fresh take that could resonate with younger audiences and spark discussions on workplace justice,” said media critic Park Ji-won.

As anticipation builds ahead of its premiere, Labor Attorney Noh Moo-jin is expected to reinforce Jung Kyung-ho’s status as a leading figure in Korean television, and possibly open new doors for genre experimentation within the domestic drama scene.
