Park Ji-hyun Triumphs in Gwangju with 150-Minute Solo Concert “SHOWMANSHIP”

Singer Park Ji-hyun successfully concluded his solo concert “SHOWMANSHIP” in Gwangju, marking a major milestone in his first national tour. Held at the Gwangju Culture & Arts Center’s Grand Theater on April 19 and 20, the concert drew full houses on both days, reflecting high anticipation from local fans. It was the fifth stop of his tour following Seoul, Daegu, Mokpo, and Suwon.

Park captivated the audience with a well-curated setlist and heartfelt fan interaction throughout the 150-minute performance. Kicking off with a spectacular opening, he followed with hit tracks like “Turn On Your Signal” and “I Can’t Leave You,” fueling passionate cheers. The concert also featured interview segments that brought him closer to the audience and added a touch of warmth to the high-energy show.

During the latter part of the concert, Park returned to the stage with his dance crew for the “Youth Rest Area Medley,” blending nostalgic trot hits with dynamic choreography that elevated the atmosphere. Songs from his January mini album—such as the title track “Man of the Sea” and “Farewell at the Port”—showcased his emotional depth and charismatic stage presence.

The second act shifted to more introspective tones with ballads like “Useless Man” and “Rain Falls in a Man’s Heart.” An emotional VCR featuring a tribute to his parents preceded moving performances of “Time That Cannot Be Reversed,” “Mother,” and “Mokpo Blues.”

Closing the concert with “Don’t Leave Me,” Park took a commemorative group photo with the audience and returned for an encore with “Because We Can” and “If You Smile, I’m Happy,” concluding the night on a high note.

Park Ji-hyun rose to fame as the runner-up of Mr. Trot 2 and has since expanded his presence through variety shows and the release of his mini album OCEAN. The “SHOWMANSHIP” tour will continue with stops in Daejeon, Jeonju, and Busan.
