Actress Hong Hwa-yeon returns in ‘Your Taste,’ to premiere at Jeonju International Film Festival

Rising actress Hong Hwa-yeon, who gained recognition for her breakout role in Treasure Island, has selected the Genie TV original series Your Taste as her next project, marking a significant step in her career development.

Your Taste (planned by KT Studio Genie, produced by Shortcake) tells the story of a chaebol heir and a headstrong chef whose lives become entangled through a small restaurant. In the series, which premieres on May 12, Hong plays star chef Jang Young-hye, a character known for her boldness and charisma.

Jang Young-hye is a talented and determined chef who adds narrative tension between the lead characters Han Beom-woo (played by Kang Ha-neul) and Mo Yeon-joo (Go Min-si). “As someone who enjoys cooking survival shows, I felt a natural pull to this role,” Hong commented. “The filming environment was filled with kindness and mutual respect, which made the experience even more rewarding.”

Your Taste has been officially invited to the 26th Jeonju International Film Festival, where the first two episodes will be screened—an uncommon occurrence for a television drama. Cast members including Kang Ha-neul, Go Min-si, Kim Shin-rok, Yoo Su-bin, and Hong Hwa-yeon are scheduled to attend stage greetings and Q&A sessions with viewers. The screening holds added significance as the series was largely filmed in Jeonju.

Following her memorable performance in Treasure Island, where she showcased both emotional depth and strong character presence, Hong is expected to further broaden her range in Your Taste. Industry sources note that her poised and distinctive acting style is likely to emerge as one of the show’s highlights.

Your Taste will premiere on Genie TV and affiliated platforms at 10 p.m. on May 12.
