Kim Dong-hyuk to play royal guard in SBS fantasy romantic comedy 'The Haunted Palace'
Kim Dong-hyuk will appear in SBS’s upcoming weekend drama "The Haunted Palace" (Korean title: 귀궁), playing the role of Kim Geun-hoo, a devoted royal guard protecting the king.
According to his agency Big Picture ENT on April 18, Kim will star alongside Kim Ji-hoon, who plays King Lee Jung.
Written by Yoon Soo-jung and directed by Yoon Sung-sik, The Haunted Palace is a fantasy romantic comedy that follows Yeori, a shaman who refuses her destined role, and Kang Chul-i, an ancient serpent inhabiting the body of Yeori’s first love. Together, they become entangled with a mythical vengeful spirit seeking to destroy the royal family.
Kim’s character is known for unwavering loyalty and martial skill. Though born of low status, he earns the title of royal guard thanks to the inclusive ideals of King Lee Jung. His presence is expected to deliver strong chemistry with Kim Ji-hoon and highlight his depth as an actor.
Kim debuted in 2007 with the drama The Legend and has since appeared in series like Six Flying Dragons and Three Days, as well as films including The King. His stage work includes acclaimed productions such as Arirang Rhapsody.
The Haunted Palace premieres April 18 at 9:50 p.m. KST, following SBS’s Treasure Island.
