Trot singer Hong Ji-yoon to return with new single on April 25

South Korean trot singer Hong Ji-yoon is set to release a new single on April 25, marking her return to the music scene after a six-month hiatus. Her agency, Choi Creative Lab, announced the comeback on Thursday, noting the upcoming release captures Hong’s signature delicate sentimentality.

The single follows her October 2024 release, “On Which Sky, In Which Sea,” which earned praise for its emotional depth and unique vocal tone. The new track is anticipated to highlight Hong's refined interpretation of modern trot, blending traditional technique with personal expression rooted in her background in Korean classical music.

Hong is also eyeing a global career expansion, having recently appeared on Japan’s iconic enka program “Life, That’s a Song” alongside fellow Korean singer Kim Yeon-ja.

Domestically, she remains active on variety shows including KBS2’s “Stars’ Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant” and tvN STORY’s “Handsome Trot”, keeping close ties with her fanbase.

Hong also achieved recognition at the April Netizen Awards, joining the 1,000 Club in the Female Singer category—an accolade determined purely through online fan voting, underscoring her continued popularity in Korea’s competitive music scene.

Her new single will be available on all major streaming platforms starting April 25, with fans eagerly anticipating what emotional narrative Hong will share next.
